MINISTER CARLA SCOTT

Minister & Sunday School Leader

Minister Carla J. Scott is a native of Louisa, Virginia and is the
daughter of the late George H. Jackson and Frances E. Thurston. Carla
is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) having
received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
She is also a graduate of Liberty University from which she earned a
Master of Arts in Theological Studies.


Minister Scott was licensed in 2018 and as Wayland’s
Associate Minister she brings the message on the fourth Sunday of
each month. Additionally, she serves as Sunday School leader, Prayer
Service leader/facilitator, choir member, and Assistant Clerk. In 2021
Minister Scott also initiated a weekly personalized devotional ministry
where she calls elderly widows in the community and reads the Bible
with them and spends time in fellowship with each one as God leads.
Minister Scott is also responsible for leading our New Member classes
which includes general orientation to church membership as well as
biblical study. Minister Scott is active in multiple community
organizations including the Louisa County and Vicinity Ministers’
Conference, the Louisa Faith Coalition, and the Spirit of Truth
Community Choir.


Minister Scott and her husband, Christopher (Chris) have three
adult children, James, Chelsea and Christian, and five grandchildren,
Paisley, Addyson, Ezekiel, Christian Jr., and Olivia. In 2019 Carla
retired from Dominion Energy after a thirty-three-year career with the
company and in 2021 embarked upon a new career as an Instructional
Assistant with Louisa County Public Schools.


Minister Scott’s desire is to teach and preach in such a manner
that makes the Word of God plain and relatable. One of her favorite
Bible verses is Philippians 3:14, “I press toward the mark for the prize
of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
